Horsforth Walk of Art 2024

Display of art work from the event.

HCA was delighted to take part in the 10th Walk of Art, hosted by the Grove Church. We put a green spin on the overall Walk of Art theme ‘Things that Go’, and turned it into  ‘Things that Make the Green World Go Round.”

The exhibition included some beautiful photos focusing on round things in Nature, some mini wind turbines made in advance by members of the public, and the book ‘Let’s Help Horsforth Save the World’.  Two pieces of artwork from Leeds Craftivists were also on display, one thinking about buses and the other thinking about the plight of asylum seekers and the mass migration events that will be caused by Climate change.

We had also worked with the brownies and cubs beforehand to create some beautiful banners which hung over the balcony.

Getting serious, there was an installation and information about the cycles that are essential in making the world go round – the Life cycle, The Carbon Cycle, Energy Cycles, The Food Cycle and The Water Cycle as well as two, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and Doughnut Economics, that could contribute massively to a more sustainable future.

Alongside that children and adults took part in activities – a treasure hunt (looking for round things in nature), making mini wind turbines and chalking their carbon footprints on reclaimed slates.

There were some great conversations throughout the day, especially at our information stalls and thank you to Friends of Hunger Hills Wood for their wonderful Game and enthusiasm.

Many Bikes and Digital Tech were donated for repair and redistribution.

It was a fantastic day with an excellent turnout despite variable weather, with around 600 people coming through the doors.
