About Us
Who We Are
Horsforth Climate Action (HCA) is a dynamic community hub part of the wider Climate Action Leeds initiative. Established to help Leeds become zero carbon, nature-friendly, and socially just by the 2030s, we are driven by a vision of a sustainable future. Backed by a £2.5 million National Lottery project, Horsforth Climate Action is one of eight climate action hubs set up across the city of Leeds to galvanise local action toward these ambitious goals.
Our Structure
Horsforth Climate Action started with a locally-led governance system, supporting various areas of interest and thematic working groups under a central decision-making body. As we evolved, we transitioned into a constituted group to enhance our ability to secure funding, manage resources, and expand our activities. Today, our steering group oversees the governance of Horsforth Climate Action, ensuring compliance with our aims and legal obligations.
Our development has been expertly supported by Together 4 Peace (T4P). Thanks to St Margaret’s Church in Horsforth, which serves as our Employing Organisation, we’re able to engage a dedicated paid hub worker for 15 hours a week until September 2025.
Our Steering Group
Our steering group are members of the Horsforth community who are deeply involved in all aspects of Horsforth Climate Action’s operations, from running working groups to organising community events like HCA Saturdays. We always welcome new volunteers who are eager to contribute their time and skills to our cause.
Our Aims
At Horsforth Climate Action, our mission is to:
- Educate and engage the Horsforth community in climate action initiatives.
- Support local efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance sustainability.
- Foster partnerships with local businesses, schools, and community groups to amplify our impact.
Our Achievements
Since our inception, Horsforth Climate Action has seen significant community involvement, with over 100 residents participating in our initial meetings. Our ongoing projects span areas such as nature conservation, sustainable food practices, and energy conservation, reflecting our commitment to climate action.
