Young People & Schools
Schools, Young People, and Climate Action in Horsforth
In Horsforth, we recognise the crucial role that education plays in fostering a sustainable future. Engaging young minds in climate action is not just an investment in their futures—it’s an essential strategy for long-term environmental and social justice. With eight primary schools, a large secondary school, many youth groups, and Trinity University campus, there are many young people in our community impacted by climate change. We also have a vibrant youth community ready to get involved and lead positive change for the future.
Aims of Horsforth Climate Action, Young People and Education
Our goals are to:
- Support educational and youth organisations with targeted activities and meaningful engagement.
- Provide educators and youth leaders with the resources and training needed to integrate climate action into their programmes.
- Empower young people to collaborate with us in safeguarding their future.

How You Can Help
- At Home: Inspire and enable children to participate in local environmental activities. Your support at home is crucial in nurturing their interest and involvement in climate action.
- Listening: Engage with young people’s ideas and perspectives—they often have insightful contributions to make toward sustainability.
- Engage Schools: Ask your child’s school what they are doing to integrate environmental awareness and sustainability topics into the curriculum and everyday school practices.
