Horsforth Climate Action Energy Day

All things energy were up for discussion on 7th September – an afternoon of power saving ideas, hints, tips and practical solutions, ranging from simple ideas to full and serious retrofit options, including insulation, solar panels, heat pumps and home energy generation.

The Green Doctor was in attendance, signing up people for a free home assessment on how they can save energy by changing habits and making household changes. The Green Doctors work in tandem with the Retrofit team. They are part of the Groundwork Trust charity and work in conjunction with Leeds City Council. All households are eligible to sign up for a free assessment.

A self confessed energy and carbon saver – Jed Aitcheson – was there to tell people how he was retrofitting his own home and how he could help skill-up those wanting to do similar.

Horsforth Climate Action have borrowed a thermal imaging camera from our Garforth based equivalent group. We are embarking on a series of home visits to see if the camera can find cold spots in people’s homes. Get in touch on info@horsforthclimateaction.org if you want to know more.

Additionally there were information displays, children’s activities and for those who wanted a little adults arts and crafts, make your own draught excluder!

Those that attended the event were already engaged in the subject before coming along, making for a worthwhile afternoon discussing all things energy.
