On Saturday 3rd February Horsforth Climate Action started their HCA Saturday activities early. A small team, working with Plastic free NW Leeds went out armed with temporary chalk paint to spray a message around the drains of Horsforth. An important message that any litter could go down the drain then end up in our rivers and eventually the seas… the sea really does start here!
Notice was definitely taken by the local community and much discussion was had.
The day continued at our usual HCA Saturday venue alongside the Repair cafe at St Margaret’s Church, with conversation, information, campaigning and activities. These included one art installation highlighting the problem of plastic in our rivers, and another campaigning against Raw Sewage in our U.K. rivers and seas, to which people added their own thoughts and rain drops. There was also the option to play board games lent by Leeds Recycles.
Two crates of unwanted digital devices were collected and taken to Solidaritech to be hard wiped and upgraded for use by refugees and Asylum Seekers, as well as donations of clothes and other items for refugees involved with Horsforth Town of Sanctuary.
This was a highly successful and busy event with lots of visitors, including two of our town councillors and one of our prospective parliamentary candidates.
