SUMMARY:Mass Bioblitz of the Horsforth Nature Corridor
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a family friendly Mass Bioblitz of the Horsforth Nature Corridor on Saturday 20th June. \nOur BioBlitz is an open family friendly event where people work together to record as many plants and animals as possible in a set area and time. No experience needed — curiosity encouraged! \nWe will have spotter sheets\, or you can download the iNaturalist App onto your phone and record your findings that way. Full instructions\, demonstrations and tips for recording will be provided. You can find out more about the iNaturalist App and how to use it in our blog post. \nThe event runs from 12:00 – 3:00pm. You can stay for the whole event\, or just drop in for a little bit. \nWe will be meeting at Church Lane Car Park at 12:00pm (next to St Margaret’s Church) What3Words ///frogs.fits.vague \nWe will then make our way down the corridor spotting as we go. You can meet up with us at various points along the way. Have a look at the programme for the afternoon. \nEveryone is welcome to take part! Families\, beginners\, and experienced nature-lovers are all very welcome. All activities are relaxed and supported. \nPlease wear suitable footwear and bring a phone (if using apps)\, curiosity\, and enthusiasm! \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Horsforth Repair Cafe
DESCRIPTION:Do you have an item that needs a fix rather than throwing away? \n\n\n\nWe aim to fix items that may be broken and can range from clothing\, jewellery\, electronic equipment\, garden equipment\, children’s toys\, tv remotes\, fans\, electrical etc – basically anything we will try and have a go at repairing. Please note that due to the hall being unsuitable we are NOT able to fix bikes etc.\n\nIMPORTANT CHANGE / UPDATE – Due to the demand for fixing we are having to limit repairs to ONE ITEM PER Attendee / Group per Horsforth Repair cafe. (except for people bringing one sewing item and one mechanical / electrical item). This limit is in place to make sure everyone gets a fair chance and our volunteers can manage the workload. We will relax this rule should the cafe be quiet. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.\n\n\nThe repair cafe is completely free and staffed by volunteers! We will repair all items for free and we only ask for donations to assist with room hire / consumables etc. If you have any parts that are needed we may charge for these (if we supply them) but will charge at cost only and fit them for free. If you have your own parts we will fit them for free at a cafe!\nPlease note we now accept Cash and CARD PAYMENT!\n\n\nA few guidelines on bringing stuff to be repaired:\n\n\n1. Wash clothes if possible before bringing. Please no underwear!\n\n\n2. Empty drip trays\, crumb trays etc\, so we don’t make a mess – we may not fix devices if they are dirty or full of water / grease\n\n\n3. If you’re bringing hi-fi equipment\, bring a CD\, record\, speaker\, headphones etc. to test it with.\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you’d like to volunteer\, feel free to ask any questions via email or at the event. We are always interested in meeting new fixers and organisers!\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that we are unable to fix the following due to our insurance requirements\n\n\n\n\n\n– [ ] Air fryers\n\n\n– [ ] Dishwashers\n\n\n– [ ] Water coolers\n\n\n– [ ] Air conditioners\n\n\n– [ ] Microwaves\n\n\n– [ ] Ice makers\n\n\n– [ ] Water heaters\n\n\n– [ ] Fan heaters\n\n\n– [ ] Pressure cookers\n\n\n\n\n\nWe aim to repair items as quickly as possible (subject to demand and fixer availability)\, we ask you to wait with your item whilst it is being fixed and there will be refreshments available too! \n\n\n\n\n\nJust come along from 1pm on the 4th (please do not arrive before 1pm to enable the fixers and helpers set up).\n\n\n\n\n\nMany thanks for supporting this great local initiative!
